Toys, toys, everywhere toys. Yup, that’s our house. As most parents know, all toddler toys fit into one of two categories: super loud or containing no less than 20 parts. Which is worse? Depends on the day. Our problem is that our house is small and choppy. We have a small A-frame- the whole upstairs is the master bedroom and the main floor has several small rooms. So besides Finn’s room, there is not real play space. Which means toys are slowly taking over the living room and family room. Yes, we have bins and baskets, and every night we run around the house throwing all the toys into containers in an attempt to make it feel like less of a disaster area. What we really need is an actual playroom. Our choices were either give Finn our room upstairs or finally take the plunge and sink some money into our basement. We chose the latter and, after much hemming and hawing, started the project this week.
So the bummer is that we have about a month and a half left of work. But now is when the fun part starts for me… time to start planning decor!
Here are a few ideas that I am considering…
Chalkboard (naturally) Half Wall- but maybe in green with magnetic chalkboard paint(??): http://www.nestofposies-blog.com/2010/03/so-my-walls-can-talk-part-1-chalkboard/
Ikea Bookshelves as Built-ins: http://www.houzz.com/Ikea-Billy-bookcase-hack
Chevron Rug: http://princesslasertron.com/
Giant Toy Photos (Finn would go crazy for these): http://www.iammommahearmeroar.net/2013/01/the-big-boy-playroom-part-2.html
Potential for Laundry Room Shelves: http://www.wickedandweird.com/2011/07/sometimes-i-run-across-house-or-room-in.html
Too many ideas to choose from! Feel free to weigh in. The goal is easy and cheap! (Cue my husband with an off-color innuendo.) More picture to come!
